| This month, Starbucks began its activities in Brazil, opening two coffee shops in the city of São Paulo. Ipanema avails itself of the opportunity to wish Starbucks success in its new coffee shops. To conquer the Brazilian market, the Starbucks´ Brazilian operations has two coffees of Brazilian origin. One of them is the Brazil Ipanema Bourbon, already served in its international units. Starbucks is among the five companies that buy the largest amounts of Ipanema coffees. Owing to the quality work developed in the Fazendas Capoerinha and Conquista, in the Municipality of Alfenas (State of Minas Gerais), Ipanema became Starbucks supplier in 1997, and has an exclusive contract with Starbucks for all the Bourbon coffee Ipanema produces. "It is an exclusive coffee of the Starbucks chain and one of the rarest coffees of the world", said Washington Rodrigues, president of the company. Ipanema has an agreement with Starbucks until 2011. |
