| The Education in Action program second anniversary was in November. During its two years of existence, more than 2,500 children were received by the Project, a daily average of 40 children. The project has its own structure consisting of computers with access to the web, a library with over 1,000 books, magazines and comics, games, and materials for handicrafts. The workshops art, theater, music, computers, handicrafts, and the environment contribute for the Project to be the ideal environment for teaching-learning in a playful and informal atmosphere. Recently, a Community Vegetable Garden was created which, in addition to developing the sense of environmental preservation and land cultivation, will offer its whole production of vegetables to children and teenagers that attend the project. Open to children and relatives of Ipanema´s employees, the project enters its third year of activities believing in the transforming strength of education. |
