The Ipanema coffees traceability and monitoring system turned one year old in August. “The system was implemented to improve the in-house management of our coffees; to distinguish products with quality attributes and to make their traceability easier”, said Christiano Borges, commercial director of the company. For Ipanema’s clients, it was a facilitator – much less exchange of e-mails and phone calls. After all, a visit to Ipanema’s website and the client obtains updated information about each contract and its status. Shipments, which began in August, take in each bag a traceability tag. Another novelty that was implemented was a traceability seal for the toasted or toasted and ground product packaging. The acquired product can be traced through the code present in each tag. In the case of a tag number, when it is typed onto a specific area of Ipanema’s website (www.ipanemacoffees.com.br), it shows the buyer’s name, contract number and number of bags, ICO’s number, destination and certificates (Utz Kapeh and Rainforest Alliance), in addition to the coffee description. The seal number will inform if the product was effectively commercialized by Ipanema Coffees. This is an important step put into practice by Ipanema.
