| Ipanema Coffees was selected as one of the finalists of the Social Balance Sheet 2006 Award of Instituto Ethos. Preparing and publishing social balance sheets [balance sheets covering the not-for-profit activities of the company in the social area] represent one of the most important strategic practices in socially responsible business management. In addition to allowing activities planning, evaluation and improvement, the instrument promotes transparency of actions and creates a communication channel and dialogue between companies and society. Companies for profit of all sizes and industries that published their social balance sheets in 2006 – for the fiscal year 2005 actions and results – took part in the contest.
