| A Vegetable Garden Community will be the next socio-educational project of Instituto Ipanema. Its purpose is to increase the awareness of the importance of preserving our environment. Through Ecological and Horticulture workshops, several actions will be developed with children and teenagers, generating ecological awareness and enhancing the simple individual attitudes that jointly can improve the global environment. Furthermore, Ipanema’s agricultural avocation contributes for voluntaries, especially rural workers, to help in the upkeeping of the vegetable garden and to have an active role in one of the company’s projects.
The project objectives are: to teach the vision of environmental preservation and education; to make children and teenagers identify themselves as an integral part of the environment; to develop their knowledge on how to care for the land, stimulating their responsibility toward the environment; to offer to the project beneficiaries the cultivated vegetables, as a way to motivate them to planting and sustainability, and to promote company volunteer work. The community vegetable garden will revert to the benefit of the children and teenagers involved in the project and to their families, also stimulating good eating habits.
